Your welcome! If this is your introduction to Kiddo, then this is a reply to your thank you in advance. On the Gutter to Greatness CD (G2G) we were introduced to the Rhyme Scheme Front Man and fell in love with the passion in his voice. Little did we know that we were experiencing not only what was his translation of Gutter but this was our preview of Greatness! He would later label his self the complete package in his musical and lyrical skills. We were soon to see the versatility and wide range he covered in his music.
From the hood anthem “I Rep My City”, to the clever and catchy “So Sweet”, he gave us slices of his reality in “My Word” and “Hard Times”, and sealed the deal with the lyrical story telling “Could You Be My Bonnie” (Bonnie and Clyde).
He followed his debut project with a series of mix tapes. The first was Pontiac Problem Vol. 1 sub titled “We Hungry” and Vol. 2 “Fire Season”. Even though these projects featured Kiddo rapping over some of the hottest industry beats at the time. He was still able to bring his own identity to these songs and make them his own. Kiddo was also known for featuring artist from the Pontiac and Detroit area that shared his hunger and will to be heard and respected as MC’s. Kiddo’s generosity with allowing so many on so many different times to be heard on his projects was soon to come to an end.
Here he presented us with his “Official Feeling Myself Mix tape”. For the first time in his career all Kiddo with the only guest vocals coming from two R&B singers. He showed us with a selfish swag that he could hold his own. This was his graduation in lyrical creativity. This CD was perfectly put together fulfilling every need from lyrical word play, aggressiveness, catchy hooks, and even kept his trademark of displaying his pain with the dedication song to his father “DADDY” (performed on Eminem’s Mocking Bird). As Kiddo put his claim to various instrumental from artist such as Jay – Z, Eminem, Lil Wayne, Jadakiss, and many more, there is only one complaint, and that is that these were not his tracks first. No argument could be made why he shouldn’t feel his self!
From here kiddo took a brief lay off but still performing and recording but his only releases was to family and friends. These were the tribute CD’s to his cousin (Raymond Clark) that were released on the anniversary of his death on October 13, 2006 featuring friends and family all expressing their love for Raymond.
Now that you are familiar with the history of Kiddo this past summer he released the 3rd edition of the Pontiac Problem series titled “Real 101”. We would see for the first time on one of his mix tapes a few original songs giving the hint that he is eager to follow up G2G. As he reintroduced his self to us we quickly were to see that he hasn’t missed a step lyrically or creatively. This CD is a fulfilling appetizer to his long awaited sophomore effort entitled “Pain Music”. This will be his effort to fill the void of reality based music we have been missing in the absence of the late Tupac Shakur. Also filling the void of lyrical content we have been missing in the recent overload of music full of bragging and dancing. Finally! Something on the way to relate to the current struggles of those with a constant hustle to make it out of poverty.
From the day one fans of G2G (Gutter to Greatness) to the new fans that are currently studying “Real 101”. We are glad to present you with the music, videos, and insight from this gifted artist. “ITSKIDDO.COM”
